Rotex stands for ROTary EX- exchange students and is an organisation of Rotary exchange students that exists worldwide. All ROTEX members are Rebounds aged 17 to 25+ who still have a strong connection to the exchange especially through Rotex because they spend a lot of time with the program of the Rotary Youth Exchange.
Teenagers who had the chance to participate in the Rotary youth
exchange (RYE) normally return to their home country full of
impressions and experiences. To use this wealth of impressions
reasonably and to stay in contact with the life of exchange students
the Rotex members of Rotex 1870 have chosen the mentoring of exchange
students to be their function.
Our work deals especially with
the mentoring and advice of the exchange students who are spending
their exchange year in District 1870 (Inbounds) as well as the
preliminary of the German teenagers who are going to spend a year
abroad (Outbounds). Our aim is to make the stay of the exchange
students as exiting and diversified as possible and to prepare the
Outbounds as good as possible for their adventures abroad.
Because among other things the RYE-program is based on the principle that the
German exchange students' parents open their houses to a teenager from
abroad the counselling of the German host families is also part of our
job. We do our best to support the German host families to ease the
integration of the exchange students in Germany and to help with
possibly arising problems and questions of the everyday life with a
teenager who is nothing more than a foreign guest at the beginning of
his stay.
The guideline with which we do our work in District
1870 combines our responsibilities in the best way: Who can answer
questions and give support, tips and tricks to the topic of the Rotary
Youth Exchange better than somebody who participated in the program
himself?
